On Friday, September 21 a crowd of about 100 people gathered at the new Gladys E. Kelly Public Library to celebrate its grand opening. The event included tours of the facility, led by local students; live music; and a ceremony to honor major donors and contributors.
The new library features a dramatic, 2-story clerestory atrium and a dominating glass wall decorated with a thermoregulatory frit pattern. If offers a tribute to the Town and Library’s histories through both the prominent display of the former library’s dedication plaque, and an interactive iPad installation where visitors can explore old photographs, newspaper clippings, and historical accounts.
The Gladys E. Kelly Public Library was designed by Oudens Ello Architecture. M. O’Connor Contractors was the General Contractor. Project Managers Alicia Monks and Tom Gatzunis co-managed the project, and Tony DelGreco was the On-site Representative.
